You can't. If someone tells you otherwise, they are either misinformed or trying to sell a miracle cure/book/course, etc. I know it's harsh, but it's true.
Lupus (or any other autoimmune disease) is incurable. So far, scientists have not figured out how to completely get rid of it. There are studies examining possibilities related to our DNA, another one is a promising experiment that may help to find the root cause. People being free of flare-ups for years is another story. That is possible with the right treatment and lifestyle. Some factors that matter are 1. the person's overall health history; and early diagnosis; 3. identified triggers that can be minimized; 4. which organs or parts of the body lupus has attacked already.
I have been seeing different ideas of cures. The most common is curing lupus naturally. You may be able to minimize or at least decrease flare-ups with the help of lifestyle changes, such as eating well and avoiding inflammatory foods (and ones your body doesn't agree with), regular exercise that can be something simple and low-impact, quality of sleep, and most importantly, reducing stress. You cannot cure lupus however by taking herbal or wonderful, newly invented supplements, switching to the paleo diet, etc. Again, certain things help with flare-ups, but there is no cure for lupus. You even have to watch who is offering advice. I remember recently seeing an ad on Facebook. The person who is allegedly a doctor, stated that he has a cure for lupus which is a skin disease! Only. Ummm...a doctor who doesn't even know lupus, yet, he offers a solution? The most dangerous in my opinion, is when it's a lupus patient who starts spreading the word about cures simply because they believe in it. I empathize. Who wouldn't want to be healed? I use CAM techniques, even an energy healing method called Reiki, but there is no reliable Reiki teacher or practitioner who states that it heals autoimmune diseases or cancer. It's not a coincidence that the first word of CAM refers to complimentary.
I don't want to take or harm anybody's hope with this post, but let's be honest, we need to be realistic.
